Does this make me an athlete now?

So it looks like I'm doing a 5k.
As I mentioned before...since January 1st, I've been back on my healthy eating and exercising often regime (is that even the proper way to use that word?). While I've only lost 11 pounds since January 1st, I'm trying to keep my head up and stay positive about the whole thing.
Before the wedding when I was trying to lose weight, the pounds seemed to melt away. They're being a bit more reluctant to leave me this time, and being presented with cake and goodies at work nearly every day isn't helping my case any either. I've also yet to find that happy place where exercise and eating don't cancel one another out. I feel like I'm either eating too much after I workout and it cancelled out the hard work I just did, or I exercise too hard and don't eat enough after, so that I feel tired and drained all day. And what's worse, is that I can't see a real difference in myself from before I started working out to now. I mean...I am a bit stronger, but not significantly so.
Anyway...I've been starting to add running/jogging/walking to my workouts, and I'm slowly starting to build up my endurance and leg strength (not that I was ever lacking in that area...my legs have always been strong). Well the other day, Chris came with me to the gym and said he was very impressed with how well I did on the treadmill. So much, in fact, that he decided to call up his mom and see if she would enter me in the Elmore City's Footloose Festival 5k that's coming up. She agreed, and now I guess I'm doing my first 5k!
Good thing I can walk if I need to, because I can't quite run a 5k straight. A mile maybe, but that's pushing it. I haven't had to do that since like...8th grade!

Now, in regards to the car accident Chris and I were involved in about a month and a half or so ago.
We're just about finished with everything and are now waiting on our settlement check. Chris dealt with the insurance companies for the most part, and he did well with it. Sometimes I felt guilty that I wasn't helping out more, but he said he had it under control.
First up, we got the estimates for the car at about $1,700. Chris had the car taken to two body repair shops, plus the other insurance company had an independent contractor guy come out to take a gander at the damages. A few days later, we had a check for $2,157 to get the car fixed! Chris wanted to pocket the check, but I wanted to get the car fixed. So instead of fixing the cosmetic damage (like the Chevy logo, the little part that says "Cobalt", and the insignificant bumps and bruises) we got the absorbers under the bumper fixed and a few other of the more important things. We were able to keep about $800 of the check, which in turn, will end up fixing my truck up. I had a huge crack in my windshield from back in July or August, when I took my truck in to WalMart to get the oil changed. It came back out with a crack, but they said they weren't going to pay for any kind of repair or anything because there was a chip and they weren't responsible (BS if you ask me...but it's all over with now). I have a new windshield now, but I still need to get my A/C fixed and check and see why my truck doesn't have any power behind it when I go up hills.
The second thing we got taken care of, was our medical bills. Now, apparently Chris and I have $1,000 medical coverage that we were unaware of...so our insurance paid us about $600 for our bills. The other guy's insurance also covered our medical bills, so the checks from our insurance went in to the bank for us to keep, while the other insurance company paid for the bills (which were really expensive! I didn't realize just how much a trip to the E.R. cost. It was close to $1,000 total for Chris and $1,500 for me).
Lastly, we are waiting on our settlement money and compensation for lost wages. We signed a release agreement type thing Tuesday and mailed it off, saying that we accept their payment and are now waiting on the check. Combined, we'll be getting about $2,730 for lost wages, being reimbursed for our medications, and pain and suffering.
Not bad considering we really weren't injured that badly.

And finally...Chris and I went to see Family Force 5 for the third time.
At a little church in Shawnee, Family Force 5 came to play an acoustic set. It was very interesting, considering they're such an electric-based band. It was different, but very awesome still. They had this little device where they could beat-box and it would loop the sound for their songs. Very nifty...
There was even e truck muffler used as decoration/an instrument!
Just look at the set for yourself!
That guy in the cut offs wasn't in the band...but he is their friend. He came out in the middle of the song dancing around. It was pretty comical.
See the muffler???
 Better view of the muffler.
For the encore, that guy came back on stage, plus the brothers of Mike Bone got pulled onstage. They were the only people between us and the stage, and they were danging during the whole concert.
Unfortunately, our picture with the band came out really blurry. The guy taking the picture didn't focus it and he was in a hurry to get people in and out. =(

Well...I think I covered just about everything. So TTFN, Ta-ta for now!
